Coming Clean is seeking part-time, short-term administrative support for the Environmental Justice Health Alliance for Chemical Policy Reform (EJHA). The EJHA Administrative Associate will report to, and take direction from the EJHA National Organizer. 

Coming Clean is a national environmental health network of 150+ member organizations and experts, working in strategic partnership with the Environmental Justice Health Alliance for Chemical Policy Reform. Position Overview:

Coming Clean is seeking part-time, short-term (6 month contract) administrative support for the Environmental Justice Health Alliance for Chemical Policy Reform (EJHA). The EJHA Administrative Associate will report to, and take direction from the EJHA National Organizer.

Responsibilities Include:

  • Field daily communications including general phone calls, email inquiries, and other administrative tasks. 
  • Assist in maintaining documents and files on Google Drive, adhering to record management and retention procedures. 
  • Scheduling, tracking schedules, and sending calendar reminders for EJHA staff. 
  • Coordinating scheduling meetings between Coming Clean and EJHA staff as needed.
  • Supporting EJHA Affiliate Office Hours and scheduling as-needed meetings with affiliates.
  • Scheduling as needed meetings for programmatic work, campaigns, projects, or collaborations with outside partners. 
  • Send agenda and text/email reminders for EJHA office hours, HazFac monthly meetings, EJHA staff meetings, etc. 
  • Take and circulate notes for EJHA Affiliate monthly meetings and office hours, and HazFac monthly meetings and office hours. 
  • Set up and assist with Zoom meetings.
  • Gather agenda items for EJHA weekly staff meetings. 
  • Provide as-needed administrative and technical support for EJHA affiliates.
  • Participate fully in EJHA’s staff team (including CC/EJHA joint staff meetings and calls, joint planning and work tracking, organization-wide events, and intra-staff communications).
  • Complete personal administrative tasks in a timely manner (timesheets, expense reports, reimbursement requests, etc).
  • Communicate clearly and reliably as needed via phone, video conference, email, and in person with EJHA affiliates, Coming Clean members, allies, staff, and consultants).
  • Pro-actively and constructively raise up challenges and pursue solutions, and be accountable for achieving task deadlines (or modifying those deadlines with adequate notice if necessary).
  • Exhibit professional and courteous behavior, polite persistence, and problem-solving skills for routine tasks as well as in urgent situations.
  • Act in alignment with EJHA and Coming Clean’s mission, goals and objectives.
  • Understand and adhere to the Coming Clean Principles, the Principles of Environmental Justice, the Jemez Principles for Democratic Organizing, and the Louisville Charter.

Position Qualifications:

  • 1 year experience in administration or operations, nonprofit experience preferred
  • Strong written communication skills, exceptional attention to detail and ability to synthesize information into clear and concise notes
  • Highly organized and able to stay on top of and appropriately prioritize competing short and long-term tasks, projects,  and deadlines
  • Strong interpersonal and communications skills, including phone, email, in-person, and public presentation
  • High computer and technology proficiency, including ability to use and administer online workspaces, calendars, documents, spreadsheets, presentations, and file management (Google Suite); virtual communications systems (Grasshopper, Slack, Zoom); and cyber security tools (VPN, Bitwarden)
  • Ability to work remotely, independently and as part of a team
  • Experience in working respectfully and collaboratively with people of diverse backgrounds
  • Experience in, knowledge of, and passion for relevant issues including environmental health, chemical pollution, economic and Environmental Justice, clean energy and preventing climate change preferred

Preferred Location:  

This is a fully remote position within the United States, with preference for candidates in Vermont, Maine, Pennsylvania, West Virginia, Michigan, Missouri, or New Hampshire.

Salary & Benefits:

The EJHA Administrative Associate is a part-time, 19 hours per week; and temporary 6 month position. The salary range for this position is between $18 and $22 per hour. Salary is commensurate with experience and location. Time off includes accrued vacation time and unplanned leave. This position is not eligible for additional benefits.
